  Manhattan Clam Chowder

4 slices bacon
1/2 onion
2 celery stalks
1/2 green pepper
1/2 red pepper
2 potatoes
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can Italian stewed tomatoes
chicken broth
1 bottle clam juice
parsley
1 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp thyme
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp red pepper
2 bay leaf
S & P
2 cans clams
2 dozen fresh clams
Saute bacon until crispy
Add onions, peppers, celery and saute for 5 min
Add seasonings, tomatoes and clam juice simmer for about 15 minutes
Add potatoes simmer until tender
Add fresh clams put lid on and simmer for 5-10 minutes or until clams open.
