Christmas Cut-Out Cookies
3½ c. flour
1½ c. light brown sugar, packed
Pinch salt
Pinch nutmeg
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 t. baking soda
2 t. water
1 t. vanilla
Mix together flour, sugar, salt, nutmeg and shortening. Put soda in cup with water to dissolve. Add to dough. Break eggs into dough; continue mixing until ingredients are well-blended. Roll out on floured surface and cut. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden, in preheated 425 degree oven.
